Volunteering with Greenlink Sandbelt
Greenlink Sandbelt Indigenous Nursery

Intro

Volunteers carry out various nursery tasks on Sundays and Wednesdays when Greenlink is open to the public. Most volunteers come once per week, but some attend every second week.

Each volunteer may become very skilled at different tasks, but at certain times of the year the variety of tasks to be done may be limited and you may be asked to do something you're not so skilled at. If you need assistance we will help you.

We are always looking for new volunteers, though occasionally potential volunteers may have to be put on a waitlist. No experience is necessary. If you're passionate about Australian flora conservation or you love gardening, why not drop in for a cuppa and a chat?

Some of the nursery tasks

Tasks include sowing seed, propagating from cuttings, cutting back excessive plant growth, repotting local native orchids, removing weeds from pots, propagating by dividing plants that have a spreading habit (e.g., native violets), and collecting seed from Greenlinks gardens. Some of our benches are made of wood and occasionally need maintenance or replacement. (We make them ourselves so anyone with carpentry skills may find these skills helpful to Greenlink.)
